Wesley Primary School|Te Kura Tuatahi o Wēteri, Tāmaki College, and Te Aho O Te Kura Pounamu (more commonly known as Te Kura) all stood out for their focus on wellbeing and community relationships. Since ākonga need connection and support to learn offsite, this is key to their hybrid programmes' success.

We observed hybrid practices at schools across Tāmaki Makaurau. Wesley Primary School|Te Kura Tuatahi o Wēteri, Tāmaki College, Greenhithe School and Te Aho o te Kura Pounamu (better known as Te Kura) all stood out for their robust learning architecture – the systems and practices they use to deliver hybrid learning.

“Learner agency,” describes a state in which learning is actively directed by learners themselves. Rather than leading the learning, kaiako facilitate it by creating a favourable environment in which ākonga feel valued and empowered, engaging ākonga in dialogue about their learning, and providing choice in terms of what, how, and when they learn.
